Summary
Bob Dylan: Chronicles: part one
When the first part of Bob Dylan's "Chronicle" appeared in 2004, it caused a real sensation in musical and literary circles, and soon after it was declared the memoir of the year. However, "Chronicles" are not classic memoirs, they do not follow the chronological sequence of the development of Dylan's career in a straight line. In five long chapters, Dylan singled out some key moments from his life, showing the five faces of the person he called the Grand Master of Rebellion, the High Priest of Protest, the Duke of Disobedience, the Archbishop of Anarchy.
We will meet a young man whose passionately focused ability to absorb all musical influences and imitate the best models will lead him to the very threshold of creativity, in the New York winter, in the flaming core of musical turmoil, in contact with the greats of the people. We will meet a panicked Messiah, a prophet and savior at the height of his glory who, in a mad escape from the spotlight of aggressive media, the curiosity of crazed fans and the plans of political brokers, tries to protect his family from the chaos and madness that follows him at every step. We will also get to know the already almost forgotten Legenda, a singer-songwriter without illusions in search of lost authenticity, a new musical expression that constantly escapes and wandering inspiration.
But through Dylan's records we will glimpse the other side of the artist in the process of creation, a deep understanding of musical expression, trends, traditions, the synergy of lyrics and chords, but more than anything, among all the series of song names and names of people he met, he is quite astonishing. imperceptibly emerges Dylan - a writer, a magician who has enchanted more than one generation with his lyrics.
