Jerolim Ivanić (1557) was a prominent member of the Ivanić family from Hvar, which originated from the village of Vrbanja, and has been permanently settled in the city of Hvar since the 16th century. The last name Ivanić was mentioned in Hvar sources for the first time, according to all appearances, in the municipal statistics in 1380.

As a student in Padua, in 1587, Jerolim Ivanić gave a solemn speech in Latin in honor of the newly appointed Duke of Venice and published it in the same year under the title In adventu illustrissimi viri Georgii Contareni ad praeturam Patavinam. Two years later, in 1589, he received his doctorate in both laws at the University of Padua.

In addition to his literary and academic work, Ivanić was also active in the public life of Hvar. In 1600, he acted as a representative of the Hvar municipality, and in 1627, as a people's procurator, he represented its interests. Despite the opposition of part of the old nobility, especially the Gazarović and Jakša families, Jerolim and Petar Ivanić were admitted to the Hvar Grand Council in 1636 by the decision of the Venetian government, which gave the family noble status.

A rare Paduan academic commemorative card from 1587, printed in Latin by Lorenzo Pasquat. The work contains a ceremonial speech by Jerolim Ivanić, identified in bibliographic sources as Pharensis - Hvaranin, held on the occasion of the arrival of the Venetian nobleman Giorgio Contarini to the post of praetor, i.e. the podestat of Padua.

The cover is printed within a rich woodcut ornamental frame, with the printer's typographical device in the lower part. An interesting example of renaissance university and political commemorative printing, particularly significant because of the author's connection with Hvar and the Croatian cultural space.
