A rare Renaissance military-theoretical work by Frano Petrić, a Croatian philosopher and polymath born on Cres. The author compares ancient and modern military systems, army organization, tactics and weapons, and presents proposals for reforming the army and adapting older military ideas to the use of firearms.

Both parts are bound together. Both richly illustrated title pages and numerous full-page graphic appendices with depictions of military formations and tactics have been preserved. The attachments are in the book block, neatly bound and not torn.
