Summary
Bernardo Zamagna (Bruno Džamanjić): Navie Aeria et Eligiarum Monobiblos
Rare first edition of the famous work of the Dubrovnik writer and translator, a member of the Roman Academy "degli Areali" and one of the most famous students of Ruđer Bošković and Rajmond Kunić, to whom he dedicates an elegy in the book. Navis Aeria is Zamagna's epic about a fantastic journey around the world, including America, in a balloon and was published 15 years before the successful balloon flight attempt of the Mongolfier brothers (1783). It contains an interesting copper engraving of a "flying ship", which is completely different from the illustration in the second edition, because people are also shown here, and probably the author with a pipe. Original leather binding with gold print on the spine.
