Summary
Pavle Levi: Cimanje slike/Unconstrained analytics
This is a book about images and their creators - filmmakers, artists, photographers, comic book authors, poets and revolutionaries. In the words of Dušan Makavajev, "to destroy art, so what happens?" He tries to capture the selected images in a rather special way: by performing conceptual maneuvers and stylistic exercises in the very process of analyzing these images.
The book consists of a series of short and playful critical theoretical reflections on a wide range of phenomena from the domain of film and visual culture: experimental cinematography in the late socialist era, directing methods and styles, connections between photography and pictorial poetry, surrealist drawings and comic fiction, correspondence as analytical, politics of (non)visibility and identity formation among European migrants and marginalized people, etc.
Pavle Levi:
Film theorist and historian. In his work, he deals with European cinematography, avant-garde film and psychoanalytic film theory. He is a full professor of film history and theory at Stanford University in California.
