Summary
Lewis Wallace: Ben Hur
One glance – just one – out of curiosity or vanity, and it would be a fatal mistake. Friendship and love could bring mortal danger, as could curiosity and vanity. Judah Ben Hur is a Jewish nobleman from an old and rich merchant family, who lives a life worthy of a prince. However, his perfect world comes crashing down when he is betrayed by his childhood best friend, the ambitious Roman officer Messala. Without a trial, Judas will be innocent sentenced to prison in a galley on the false charge that he tried to kill a Roman dignitary. After gaining freedom after years of painful slavery, he returns to his homeland with only one desire - revenge. This is the story of a man who was unjustly stripped of his title, family and the woman he loved. He had only a dream and a foolish hope created by life's audacity. However, the indestructible strength of his spirit and the strength of his body lead him to his goal, and then his dream becomes a reality, and his hope gives birth to a new life. After meeting Christ, Ben Hur is sure that it is possible to conquer even death, if our heart is filled with love and faith.
