Summary
Satoshi Yagisawa: Days at the Morisaki Bookstore
The wise and enchanting bestseller, which was made into a popular Japanese film, tells the story of a young woman who loses everything but finds herself. A beautiful story about new beginnings, love and family, and how books provide comfort when we think it's the hardest. Twenty-five-year-old Takako led a fairly easy life until one moment. She finished her studies without problems, moved from her home island to Tokyo and got a job in a company where she met her charming boyfriend, Hideaki. However, when he tells her that he is cheating on her and plans to marry another woman, her whole world suddenly comes crashing down. Takako quits her job and spends her days sleeping. Until she receives a message from her uncle begging her for help. Uncle Satoru has always lived a somewhat unconventional life, especially since his wife Momoko suddenly left him. He runs the Morisaki antique shop in Tokyo's famous book district. Takako used to despise his way of life. Now Satoru offers her an apartment above the bookstore in exchange for help running the business. Reluctantly, she agrees, not realizing that this is the beginning of a whole new chapter in her life - filled with books, self-discovery, and the shared ups and downs that permeate her and her uncle's daily lives.
