Charles Alexander Eastman (Ohyesa): The Childhood of an Indian Boy
Autobiographical records of the childhood of an American writer born among the Sioux people. The author, whose Indian name is Ohiyesa, describes family traditions, education, friends, numerous adventures and legends from his childhood, and the Indian way of life in the second half of the 19th century. Ohiyesa completed his medical studies in 1890, wrote about fifteen novels about Indian life, and spent most of his life trying to reconcile the beliefs of the white man and the culture of the Sioux.
