Nikola Đurić: Imotski kadija: a tragedy in five acts
ĐURIĆ, Nikola T. (Gjurić), writer and translator (Šagovina near Nova Gradiška, 7. IX. 1866 — Belgrade, 13. IX. 1941). After teaching school in Pakrac, he was a teacher in Brod na Sava, Požega, Nova Gradiška and Zemun, and from 1897 to 1920 in Zagreb. Since 1920, an employee of the Ministry of Public Health in Belgrade. He edited the Zagreb magazine Novi naraštaj (1908, 1912–14, 1919). He started with stories for children, continued with stories from Serbian folk life and history, and devoted himself to dramatic work. He wrote unsuccessful verse dramas, mostly related to Serbian mythology and history (Kosovo tetralogy I loved the kingdom of heaven). The stylized romantic tragedy Imotski kadija is a free thematic treatment of Hasanaginica.
