Summary
Anders de la Motte: King of the Mountain
A mystery filled with an ominous atmosphere, perfect for fans of Scandinavian thrillers. Leo Asker, an above-average smart and resourceful inspector from Malmö, believes that a leading position in the Serious Crimes Department is within her reach. But everything will come to a head when in the middle of the case of the kidnapping of a rich heiress, she is transferred to the so-called Discarded Cases and Lost Souls Department - a department full of weirdos that HR does not want to work with, so she shoves them in the basement of the police station to solve unusual, long-ago cases that no one else wants to deal with. Despite the humiliation, Asker will soon be drawn into one of the most complicated cases of her career. Someone is leaving ominous model railroad figurines around town, and one of them appears to Leo to represent the kidnapped girl from the investigation she was kicked out of. While trying to discover the perpetrators and find the kidnapped girl, Asker's path leads to ruined buildings, abandoned factories, bunkers hidden under the mountains. It quickly becomes clear to her that behind the kidnappings is a person with a pathological desire to dominate other people's lives, to be the king of the mountain.
