Krunoslav Mikulan

Krunoslav Mikulan was born on February 24, 1967 in Čakovec. At the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, he graduated in English and German, as well as a master's degree and a doctorate in English literature. He first worked as a teacher in a high school, and then got a job at the College of Teachers in Čakovec (today the Department in Čakovec of the Faculty of Teachers in Zagreb), where he teaches language and literature courses in English. Independently or in co-authorship, he published a number of scientific and journalistic works in the fields of literary theory, linguistics, foreign language teaching methodology, Croatian history and numismatics: six scientific monographs, two editorial books, five scientific-popular books (of which four in English, three in Great Britain; two were translated into Italian and Czech, and one into Spanish), about fifty articles in scientific and professional publications and a number of articles in magazines and newspapers (Vojna povijest, Croatian soldier, Vjesnik, etc.).Of his literary works, he published one novel for children (Zmaj ispod Staro grada, Ljevak, 2019), one novel for adults (Oklada u Titanica, Insula, 2006), and he published stories, humor, travelogues and poems in the magazine AKO and the Croatian Kajkavian Calendar. He is the editor-in-chief of the scientific magazine Croatian North and the new literary magazine Riječ više! For the novel Zmaj ispod Staro grado, he received the Artefakt Award (a literary award for the best literary achievements in Croatian speculative fiction) and the Little Prince Award (a regional award for a children's book for the linguistic area of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia).
