Summary
Branko Ćopić: Eagles fly early
The brave fighter Jovančeta lives here. In the Bosnian village of Lipovo, a group of boys called "Četvrtaci" grows up. When their good-natured teacher Lana is replaced by the strict teacher Paprika - convinced that beatings are the best way to raise students - the boys, as well as one fearless girl, decide to rebel and run away into the forest. The camp Tepsija soon sprouts up there, where children will spend many carefree days filled with adventures. Nevertheless, the Second World War begins and the children grow up too soon, realizing that their fight against injustice and violence continues, but this time on a new and much more serious level. Writing about friendship, courage, sacrifice and love of freedom in difficult and uncertain historical moments, Branko Ćopić created one of the most valuable works of domestic literature for children, whose messages still resonate today.
