The fictional backbone of the novel, which is not characterized by a particularly elaborate plot, is based on a collaged reconstruction of the true ten-day stay of Austrian literary classic Hugo von Hofmannsthal in the climatic health resort of Bad Fusch at the beginning of August 1924. It is the place where the works that made him famous were created. In the meantime, a lot has changed: the sensitive writer has lost friends, years have passed since the time of his glory, his creativity is threatened by unstable health and loneliness, fear of aging and various anxieties. In addition to that, the modern age has arrived in that remote area, in which he mainly participates only as an observer who is increasingly becoming a stranger to himself...
