Summary
Terry Pratchett: Under Full Steam
Dick Simnell, the man in the workman's cap and sunroof, invented something new, something that smoked, rattled and roared on the rails, and the invention attracted the admiration of the public; suddenly it is of national importance whether the trains arrive on time.
Moist von Lipwig does not like hard work. His... irreplaceable contribution to the bank and the post office mainly comes down to words, and words are not particularly laborious. They are not greasy either. And they certainly don't expect you to deal with dilapidated bridges, runaway cheeses and a fat railway director. Anyway, even though he doesn't like to work, Moist von Lipwig really likes to be alive, but that might not be in the job description of railroad builders. Because, of course, individuals have certain OBJECTIONS and are ready to go to extremes to stop the locomotive.
