Gotza van der Neck: Recessional constipation

"Recessional constipation" belongs to the neglected aesthetics of ugliness, a dark but vital letter of social catharsis that is realized here by twisting the insides of the nameless, loser subject of the Croatian transition. Imitating to some extent oral genres in the simplicity of the words, the directness of the humor and the expression of sexuality, the songs are nevertheless dominated by a contemporary feeling of resignation and vegetating. Having exhausted all means, he breaks through a kind of cultural "Tourette's syndrome", through the dirty, sick, simpleton flood of flash literature that aims to be disliked by no one and never enter anthologies.

The decision to present the "unrepresentative" content of life in an equally unrepresentative, repulsive and shocking form thus emerges as the last attempt of desperate resistance against the polishing and market anticipation of literary and intellectual ego-trip. In the lie and multitude of all aestheticized, principled and pre-amortized critical objections, "Constipation" is a kind of conscientious objection, a desire not to participate in the game, but to fence off an area of autonomy with the dangerous and vicious border of language.
