Samuel Gide is the story of the slow deterioration and mental disappearance of a man trapped by repetitive, intrusive ideas and thoughts, and its plot lasts an entire human lifetime. Set in France, and later in the countries of northern and eastern Europe in the early and mid-20th century, this book follows the growth and life of Samuel.
His first philosophical novel, Samuel Gide marks the turning point of Baranov literary creations from fantasy to philosophy and is a sort of prelude to his later avant-garde novels.
