She studied dramatic arts at the University of Manchester, and after moving to London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she began her professional acting career. She achieved notable roles in the television series EastEnders, Casualty, Holby City, and in our well-received crime series Dalziel and Pascoe. She also had a prominent role in the long-running theater play The Dresser, on the boards of London's West End. In 2009, with her Australian partner, she embarked on a world trip during which, in search of additional income, she also worked as a housewife on a lonely French estate, where the seeds of the novel A Safe Place were sown. Today, Anna lives on the Central Coast, in New South Wales, Australia, with her husband and two children.
