Summary
Upstream of Tears
The selection of eleven Russian women poets, under the extraordinarily chosen title Upstream of Tears (verse by one poetess, Vera Pavlova), covers the entire 20th century: the first selected poem was published in 1905, and the last in 2008.
(...) There is no question of any imitation or repetition of "male" poetry among these poets. It even seems to me: if the names were removed, a good connoisseur of Russian poetry would know for sure, through only these translations, what it is all about Russian poetry.
(...) And this time it turns out that the divisions mean nothing, that they are temporary: the puzzle of poetry remains mysterious if poetry is an exceptional achievement, if the creator takes his destiny and carries his cross, then the male and female approach is not so important, it must not serve as an empty excuse even though it is not needed ignore.
