Summary
Yukio Mishima: Lust for Love / Patriotism
The main character of the novel "Lust for Love", Etsuko, a woman went crazy due to sensory frustration and lack of love: her husband could not satisfy her in anything - his life was made up of frauds and he never accepted his wife as a wife; he eventually died of typhoid fever. Not even her old father-in-law could satisfy her unlived sexuality and strong sense of sexuality. There is also Saburo, a young and strong but dumb gardener, who also cannot recognize Etsuka's longing for love. Lustfully looking for some kind of fulfillment, she throws herself on his bare chest during an orgiastic and rustic initiation procession, finding in those moments and touch a false fulfillment of her desires, but she inevitably faces her own frustrations and emptiness, which inexorably leads to a tragic end. The story "Patriotism", which was also made into a movie starring Mishima himself, tells about the rebellion of the officers of the right wing to which the young lieutenant Takeyama belongs. A group of his friends does not want to involve him in the rebellion, because he recently married the beautiful Reiko, but he decided to be loyal to his friends, and his wife to be loyal to him, until death, which is intertwined with erotica.
