Currently the most engaged planetary philosopher Slavoj Žižek promptly reacted after the murder spree on January 7, 2015 in the premises of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo with a collection of texts entitled Islam, atheism and modernity - some blasphemous thoughts. In this book, Žižek, on the one hand, re-examines the lines of contact and separation between democratic liberalism and Islamic (quasi)fundamentalism, while on the other hand, he subjects the major world religions to analysis, which are considered absolute and indisputable. Through the story of Hagar, Lakanovski analyzes the role of women in the Islamic religion, putting elements of the Qur'an and the Bible in a comparative relationship. Emphasizing that the shockingness of the moment should not prevent quick thinking, and that thinking with a cool head actually normalizes the situation and dulls the edge of truth, the author claims that criticism of Islamic terrorism must go hand in hand with criticism of liberal democracy.
