Summary
Hagiology: cults in context
Editors: Trpimir Vedriš, Ana Marinković
Saints and their veneration permeate almost every segment of the history of the Western world, so any research that deals with some aspects of saint cults is necessarily defined as interdisciplinary. In Croatian historiography, certain historical disciplines have inevitably touched on questions related to the cults of saints, and the question of how deep and wide the reach of these reflections is is posed as the first task in defining hagiological research in Croatian historical sciences. The diversity of sources and methods of each of these disciplines (ecclesiastical, political and urban history, history of art, literature and music, paleography and codicology, onomastics, archeology and numismatics), instead of affecting their mutual isolation, precisely through the study of saint cults as one of the strong social links in history, and now also through its related study, contributes to the establishment of a more comprehensive, integrated history.
