Summary
Boris Senker: Istrian scenes
The "Mystery" of the Istrian story in a series of short scenes connected by the conference follows the long history of life in the Istrian area for thousands of years, from the appearance of the first people and their accidental discovery of the bisca, through the arrival of Histri and Romans, through the passing of a series of picturesque figures (Ostrogoths, Byzantines, Lombards, Slavs, Franks, etc.) century of the Austrian "bright apocalypse" and the competition "to the last chorus", i.e. the totalitarian regime, in the 20th century.
"Miracle" Dreamers of the future is shaped as a psychoanalytic session: Freud in Brijuni analyzes the dreams of other people's dreams of a young girl from Histria, to whom the Austrian emperor Francis I first comes, determined to restore greatness to the newly acquired neglected Istria with the help of the Dreamers. After him, historical characters successively enter Histrija's dream with their dreams of the restoration of Roman Istria, of Pula as the main war port, of the transformation of the war port into a port of noble leisure, of Brijuni's paradise on earth, of multicultural music. The last is the nostalgic dreamer Paula Preradović, who dreams of the lost city of her childhood.
The main character of "morality" The dreamer's story dreams of the future of an unnamed city based on the spiritual culture, tradition and advantages of the homeland, but his dreams are mocked by a chorus of greedy people, greedy people, cheaters... From his intention to give up everything and leave, he is dissuaded by an Angel, who shows him what the world will look like if give up your Dreams and let Sins rule the City. After visions of the struggle between Good and Evil, with strengthened faith in Good, hope and determination, the Dreamer returns to the City to continue his work. The common characteristic of the three "shows" is the brevity of the scenes, dynamism, multilingualism and mixing of verse and prose.
