Summary
Ivan Tepeš: Croatian Political Emigration - HSS
Based on available sources, scientific literature and nonfiction, this book presents and analyzes a poorly researched area of the political activity of the Croatian Peasant Party in emigration in the period from the end of the Second World War in 1945 to the renewal of the activities of the HSS in the homeland in 1989, i.e. the first democratic elections in Croatia in 1990. The political activity of the HSS was observed chronologically from three aspects: the activity of the HSS leadership in the Croatian emigration, cooperation in organizations of emigrants from Central and Eastern Europe that operated under the political and financial patronage of the USA, and cooperation with other political emigrants from Yugoslavia.
This book seeks to make a historiographical contribution to the understanding of the overall Croatian political emigration in the period from 1945 to 1990, especially a historiographical contribution to critical questioning theses based on long-standing prejudices about political emigration as exclusively terrorist, extreme and ideologically uniform, which was the result of long-term propaganda of the Yugoslav system that political emigrants tried to overthrow. of the Republic of Croatia and its political life, especially since "Radić's ideology" has become one of the fundamental components of the program of Franjo Tuđman and the HDZ.
