Darovec Darko

Summary

Darko Darovec: Overview of Istrian history

Unfortunately, we do not yet have a complete, great synthesis of the history of Istria. All the conditions have obviously not yet matured for it, and one reason is certainly that Istrian history still has many unlit or insufficiently known and studied parts. Darovč's Overview of Istrian history is a small synthesis, small in scope, but complete in presenting historical trends from the beginning to the middle of the 20th century. A work of this type is as demanding as it is ungrateful, as it requires narrowing down the topics to the level of meager factual data, but it also has one rare virtue: it briefly and concisely brings the history of Istria closer to readers, both experts and less experts. For all these reasons, Darko Darovac's review of Istrian history is a valuable contribution to future synthesis, because having an overview of the whole means having the foundation of individual parts.
