Summary
Felix Luna: A Brief History of the Argentines
Two Centuries of Argentina - History
One of Felix Luna's most popular books, "A Brief History of the Argentines" (Breve Historia de los Argentinos 1993), appears for the first time in a Serbian translation, enriched with explanations that will facilitate our reader's understanding of key phenomena, people and events in the history of the southernmost Latin American country. With the introductory note to the book about the Argentine people and its leaders, Luna emphasizes its colloquial register and addresses the reader as if he were talking to him face to face, as if he were narrating to him personally in simple language and a friendly tone. From the founding of Buenos Aires to the second fall of Juan Perón (Juan Perón, 1895–1974), Luna depicts historical events significant for a certain historical moment, but also for the understanding of contemporary Argentina. By specially combining knowledge of the past and his refined narrative style, in "A Brief History of the Argentines" Felix Luna presents us with one of the biggest problems of Latin American man: his constant search for national and personal identity.
