Summary
Julie de Azevedo Hanks: The Cure for Burnout
One of the biggest challenges we face as women is how to avoid personal emotional exhaustion. The experience I gained during almost two decades of work as a psychotherapist shaped me and provided the foundation for many of the observations I will share in this book. I have been deeply impressed by many wonderful, good and dedicated women who confided in me and admitted that they "didn't feel good enough" or that they felt they were failures because of their so-called imperfections and life's adversities that brought them to therapy. My personal and professional experience has developed in me a great empathy for the difficulties that many women face - not only because I am a wife and mother myself, but also because I have been through therapy myself. The journey I went through, and which I continue to go through together with many of my clients, helped me come to wonderful insights that I want to share out loud with all busy women around the world. The goal of this book is to help us learn to live a life filled with compassion and how to help others while taking care of ourselves wisely.
