Summary
Anđelko Badurina: Lexicon of Iconography, Liturgy and Symbolism of Western Christianity
The appearance of this work dealing with iconographic problems, the first of its kind in our language, should be warmly welcomed. In teaching and scientific work in the field of art history, the need for a text in which the basic terms of iconography, liturgy and Christian symbolism in general would be treated in a lexicographic manner has long been felt. It is not necessary to emphasize that the theme of artistic creations over sixteen centuries was related to the Christian tradition, and that the process of true "reading" of the artistic messages of the past cannot be imagined without knowing certain "themes" as well as artistic relations to these themes. - Milan Prelog.
