Summary
Gnostic texts, as a phenomenon associated with religious movements, spread freely in the Mediterranean until the 2nd century, when the early Christian church fathers declared them heresy.
Although the term Gnosticism itself belongs to the innovations of modern science, starting from the 19th century, and despite the diversity among the so-called Gnostic groups, we still have to adhere to it. The consideration of Gnostic thought is the subject of the most serious study, an exciting journey into the early days of Christianity and unraveling the tangled tangle of religious, historical and social connections and disputes between Christian and Gnostic thinkers.
