Summary
Stephen Gundle, Clino Castelli: Glamour
With a completely new approach in this book, the authors come to the conclusion that the roots of glamor lie in the 19th century, and that it is the most important feature of consumer culture. The authors studied the way in which the language of visual seduction is related to different social circumstances and how it is used to stimulate envy and interest, especially in a commercial environment. They also presented eight distinct variations of glamour, each of which has a complex history and is constantly evolving. Stephen Gundle is a professor of Italian cultural history at Royal Holloway University in London, UK. Clino T. Castelli is a professional designer and visiting professor at the Politecnico di Milano.
