Summary
Alfie Bown: The Dreamworld of Video Games
It is no longer a question of whether video games will become like reality, but whether reality will become like video games. Today, we live in a dystopia where Google and its affiliates mindlessly lead us around the city in directions of their own choosing, in search of objects of desire, whether it's a lover on Tinder, a bowl of authentic Japanese ramen, or that elusive Clefairy or Pikachu. That is why this book is not only about games, but also about the effects that new technologies have on the global population, as well as about the emerging consciousness that virtual reality and video games show us.
Alfie Bown:

His main research interests are: digital media, psychoanalysis, critical theory and video games, with forays into nineteenth century studies, film studies and the Middle Ages. Baun's broad field of interest includes digital activism, literature and philosophy, and he also deals with digital storytelling, digital history and the role of digital in geopolitical and cultural relations.
