The book Cavalier of the Holy Spirit by Žaneta Đukić Perišić is dedicated to the interpretation of stories about Tomi Galus, a hero who is considered to be Andrić's alter ego. Searching for answers to the question of why the short stories whose theme is the writer's personal experience of imprisonment at the beginning of the First World War, and his stay in the Maribor prison, Ivo Andrić did not take shape in a novel - and in the (re)construction of which she herself successfully embarked - Žaneta Đukić Perišić performed a subtle and well-argued analysis of the motivation, actions and psychological profile of the hero whose name carries specific symbolism. If we understand the prison experience as the original, "mother cell", from which many thematic-motive and conceptual threads of Andrić's entire oeuvre spring, then the book Cavalier of the Holy Spirit stands out as one of the key critical studies of the great writer, primarily thanks to the interpretations that discreetly and expertly move along a subtle and hidden line that connects the writer's most intimate contents and his poetics.
