Summary
Svetlana Tomin: Book-loving Women of the Serbian Middle Ages
Svetlana Tomin's book "Book-loving Women of the Serbian Middle Ages" includes six studies that deal in different ways with the role of women in Serbian culture and society of the Middle Ages, illuminating and interpreting their literary, social and cultural contribution. At the same time, this book gathers a significant flow of the author's previous studies, her long and extensive dealing with this insufficiently explained phenomenon.
The author reveals the "bookishness" and developed intellectual life of these women in the possession and ordering of books, translations, commentaries, binding and binding of manuscripts. From the scarce data and records, a deeply emotional and exciting response to the world in which these women lived emerges.
