"Literary historian Gojko Tešić is today the most competent and informed expert, researcher, organizer and interpreter of the collective creative body in Serbian literature of the 20th century (period 1918 - 1941), which already stabilized in the related science under the name of Serbian avant-garde. Tešić earned such a place through his long-term dedicated, almost fanatical research work, the result of which is the entire bibliography of the discovered, prepared, systematized and published works of the mentioned literary-historical period. scientifically classified all the most artistically significant and most poetically representative texts of avant-garde writers.
The first three volumes of such anthology belonged to avant-garde prose, which during the last few years has been at the center of interest in contemporary Serbian criticism and literary science for many reasons because it prepared the ground for the formation of new narrative poetics, century, in the era of postmodernism. In its trans-avant-garde aspect, postmodernism is nothing more than the renewal and revitalization of so-called poetic principles. historical avant-garde and that is why the interest in it is so strongly actualized.
Gojko Tešić compiled the three-volume textbook Prose of the Serbian avant-garde following the following criteria profiled during a number of years of dealing with the poetics of the avant-garde. Equipped with complete scientific equipment, textually prepared basic texts, extensive notes on the writers and the necessary comments and bibliographies, Tešić's collection, which is in many respects an anthology, is the most reliable guide through the prose world of Serbian avant-garde writers and, at the same time, inevitable for future academic studies of the period under consideration.
A glance at the content of Tešić's books convinces us of the scrupulousness and scientific foundation of the author's endeavors. In the prose of the Serbian avant-garde, all the important texts of both the most important writers and those who strengthened and developed the dominant poetic spirit of the avant-garde era are collected.
