Summary
Milivoje Pavlović: Crown of Thorns for Danilo Kiš
Danilo Kiš was one of the most beloved and irresistible people. As he was, so was his sentence (Matija Bećković). As an independent and self-confident intellectual of the modern world, where consciences are easily bought and corrupted, Kiš was proud of his self-awareness. He did not build his literary views on the role and place of literature in the general history of dishonor from a sense of solidarity towards similar convictions, but because he did not see another solution (Predrag Palavestra). Versatile, sensitive and educated, Kiš was one of the not so numerous post-war writers who resolutely led Serbian literature towards world horizons and on all meridians.
