Art historian Hans Belting, professor emeritus of art science and media theory at the University of Design in Karlsruhe, associate professor at the University of Heidelberg, head of the Chaire Européenne at the Collège de France in Paris (2002-2003), from 2004 to In 2007, he headed the International Research Center for Cultural Sciences in Vienna. He is a member of the German association Orden Pour le Mérite for science and art. His books have been translated into a dozen languages.
