Summary
George Wheler: Voyage de Dalmatie de Grece et du Levant I. - II.
George Wheler was born in the Netherlands. He traveled through Italy and France, and then, together with Dr. Jacob Spon (Lyon 1647, - Vevey, 1685), he left England for Constantinople (Constantinople). The road led them through Venice, through Dalmatia to Greece. J. Spon was the first to publish his travelogue in French, richly illustrated with etchings.
He himself put together a system of trigonometric grids to describe as accurately as possible the regions through which he passed. Napose se to odnosi na Grčku. He described and carefully drew archaeological sites in Split, Trogir and Zadar.
