Summary
Madeline Miller: The Song of Achilles
Greece in the Age of Heroes. Patroclus, a shy young prince, is exiled to the court ruled by King Peleus and his perfect son Achilles. Under normal circumstances, their paths would certainly not have crossed; nevertheless, Achilles forms a friendship with the dishonored king. And as they grow into young men skilled in the arts of war and sightseeing, their friendship grows into something deeper - despite the opposition of Achilles' mother Thetis, the cruel goddess of the sea. News soon arrives that Helena, Queen of Sparta, has been kidnapped. Torn between love and fear, Patroclus sets out with Achilles for Troy, not knowing that the coming years will test everything they care about.
