Summary
Konstantin Cavafy: Waiting for the Barbarians
The great Greek poet, for whom "eros and history are in the same embrace", was born on April 29, 1863 in Alexandria, where he lived his entire life and died on the same day in 1933.
This small collection of Cavafy's poetry, in a new translation, reacquaints us with an unusual poet who did not want to publish a single book during his lifetime. he already printed his poems himself on sheets of paper, or published them in literary magazines, and the most important ones reached the reader only after his death.
