Their topics are terrorism, contemporary Europe and Russia, signposts on our roads, readings by these two writers, but also readings by Balkan presidents, flag burning, collective, individual and phantom memory, flight forward, pessimism and depression, wars and cities, our past, space and time through the prism of history - and all this in witty and insightful remarks that hide a critical spirit and a deep reflection on phenomena, customs, people and events in the modern world, above all in the Balkan climate to which both writers belong.

Jergović and Basara alternately ask different questions and answer them equally lucidly, building on new and different themes that arise from each other. In this mutual encouragement, this correspondence takes the form of a collection of reflections unburdened by genre restrictions, and is all the more easy to read, as exciting and relevant reading that concerns all of us and that exposes many of our prejudices and misconceptions.
