Đuro Ferić Gvozdenica (1739-1820), poet, translator and member of the Roman Academy of Arcadia, wrote mainly in Latin, but he also scientifically researched older Croatian literature. He wrote Aesop's fables (1813), in Latin and Croatian, in the book Phaedra, Augustus' hostage. he published Phaedrus' fables in verse, divided into five parts (books). In Dubrovnik, this book served as a school textbook for a long time.
