Summary
Miljenko Jergović: Freelander
The author's shortest novel (often called a novella) follows a retired professor from Zagreb, Karl Adum, who travels to his native and long-abandoned Sarajevo, to read his uncle's will. In his thirty-year-old Volvo, Karlo faces the reality of contemporary Bosnia, presented in the author's famous emotional, documentary and ironic way. As in the author's previous book, "Buick Riviera", the car carries a symbolic meaning, it is an indicator of a person's success, in this case failure.
