Jendričko Slavko

Summary

Slavko Jendričko: Imaginations

A new book of poetry has been published in the Small Library - "Imaginations" by Slavko Jendričko. Jendričko is a master at portraying the suffering of modern man, who has support only in some private cosmos, in the amalgam of all the knowledge he has absorbed, and the attempt to connect all knowledge and experiences into a whole that we could call wisdom. Therefore, he is unprepared for superficiality and that is his only problem, so he chooses high spirit. Jendričko also tries to sing whole, not only with spirit, but also with body and soul. Figurative language and metaphors very often blur the border between body and spirit. In a way, the body is a picture of the cosmos in miniature. Or it's all in us. In several places, Jendričko equates the Universe with the human soul. Or it states how phenomena in nature such as hurricanes, volcanoes or drums correspond with the body, soul, and spirit of an individual. He occasionally looks for an analogy for the human psyche in the world of computers or electricity. The poet is also ironic in some places, especially regarding death, because it is a topic that mature poets hardly avoid. In short, we are talking about a demanding, dense, lucid thinking poet who evokes everything with strong images whose purpose is not so much to stage as to warn. To warn that we don't know anything about the essentials, not even about love, and even less about the secrets of death and life.
