Summary
Gene Wolfe: Lake of the Long Sun
For those who know Wolfe, it will come as no surprise that he was recently named one of the top three fantasy writers of all time (along with J.R.R. Tolkien and Ursula K. Le Guin). Those who do not yet know him, can now enjoy his latest masterwork, the tetralogy THE BOOK OF THE LONG SUN, which is also Wolfe's first work published in Croatian.
The scene of Wolfe's new tetralogy is a generational starship of enormous dimensions and from the inconceivably distant future after the death of the Sun... a world filled with wonders that only Wolfe can think of and describe so vividly, a world whose true origin is buried in legends, and buried ruled by strange gods and populated by a time-altered human race. Wolfe's world is a magical mix of victims, stalkers, exorcisms, androids, ghosts, genetic engineering, gods, robots, cyborgs and what not... a living scene of strong characters, striking scenes and a larger meaning that remains troublingly unexplained for a long time... until we merge with it completely.
