Kuća u Ulici Đemito

Starnone Domenico

Summary

Domenico Starnone: House in Đemito Street

A modest apartment in Đemitova Street smells of painting paints and turpentine. The furniture is leaning against the wall, creating an improvised studio. The sheets to be dried are moved from the bed to the floor every night. Federi, the father of a family and a railway employee, is convinced that he has great artistic talent. If it weren't for the family he had to support and the envy of his fellow Neapolitan artists, nothing would have prevented him from becoming a world-renowned painter. Ambitious and frustrated, truly talented, but also arrogant and bitter, Federi bears the scars of constant disappointments. His personality is larger than life, he is a liar and a dreamer whose fantasies shape the lives of all family members, especially his first-born son Mimi, who will spend his whole life trying to get out of his father's shadow.
