Will the young Spaniard Laila acquire such an image of them as she gets to know the everyday life of CERN, the European Center for Nuclear Research not far from Geneva, in an unexpected and unusual way? She does not come to this temple of modern scientific progress as an exemplary student - she has yet to enroll - but as a waitress who during the summer months managed to get a job as an assistant at that prestigious institution.
Laila acquires great knowledge about the origin of the universe by immersing herself in the unusual everyday life of CERN through meetings with young scientists - mostly "nerds" - and along with the laws that form the basis of the physical world, she also discovers some other forces: attraction, insecurity, passion and love.
Quantum Love is a novel intended primarily for young people. It is a book about learning - but not only about institutionally planned or "geek" learning, but also about learning how to live and emotional independence in a world that, as the poet said, "is not our home", but which can nevertheless be a source of unexpected inspirations.
