Marko Grčić: Celestial wolf
Biblioteka Razlog
First edition. Equipment Mihajlo Arsovski.
Condition: excellent
The literary work of Marko Grčić (Sinj, 1938), an extremely respected Croatian journalist, is primarily known for his excellent translations and essays. This book of his selected poems is a reminder of his verses, often of anthological value. Classified among the poets, Grčić stands out in his poetic creation, more than any other contemporary Croatian poet, for his classical expression, simplicity of verse, seriousness of statement, and in the case of greater poets, for his narration. His poetry is sometimes occupied with the interplay between the real and the comparative world in which a deeper meaning is sought, sometimes with anecdotal everyday life. Nikica Petrak, the writer of the foreword to this edition of the selected poems, writes about Grčić's poetic work that it is simple, straightforward, serious and beautiful, "in the old fashion", that he wants to give contemporary things "the same timeless seriousness and meaningfulness that we find in them".
