While war-torn Europe fears its fate and the rest of the world suffers the consequences, Lily Rose's life can be considered almost perfect. Her rich parents allowed her to live in a luxury building overlooking the park and, despite the global crisis, she managed to keep her dream job as head chef in one of the best restaurants in New York. But although she is grateful for the privileged life she leads, the presence of the beautiful Tom Morello, a talented chef and descendant of Sicilian immigrants, awakens in her a longing for the smells and sounds of Sicily, disturbing the idyll of life in New York. However, long night talks about possible dishes that would drive away the thoughts of New Yorkers about the fates of their sons fighting in the war are abruptly interrupted when Tom receives a call to the army and learns that he must go to fight on the front lines of the war-torn homeland. Lily Rose's world collapses overnight and all Tom is left with is the memory of his last kiss. In search of support, she turns to her parents, who give her an ultimatum according to which she must end her relationship with Tom or lose her family and their inheritance forever. Her heart tells her not to give up, but her last hope vanishes when she receives a notification that Tom is missing in action. What will be left for Lily Rose when the war ends?
