Summary
Ivo Kozarčanin: Sam čovček
The best novel of another Croatian writer who died prematurely, who died in an absurd way at the age of thirty from a sentry bullet in front of a barracks in Zagreb. The novel deals with the theme of a love triangle situated in the environment of a Croatian province. The modern novelistic technique, in which the influences of Krleža and Hamsun are felt, depicts the complex psychological states of the characters oppressed by the narrowness of the provincial spiritual horizon. One of the most valuable novels of Croatian interwar literature due to the strength of artistic expression and modernist design technique.
