Summary
Philip Reeve: Lethal Machines
The story begins when the big moving city of London hunts a small mining town. When one city swallows another, it processes all useful materials to free up energy to run the motorized wheels that allow the city to travel. However, London's mayor has much bigger plans than conquering small towns... Several young people will band together to prevent disaster; among them is Tom, an intern at the London History Museum, who admires Thaddeus Valentine, researcher and chief historian at the city's Historians' Guild. After a young woman tries to kill him, Katherine, the historian's daughter, hires Beavis Pod, a scientist from the Engineers Guild, to find out the truth about her father and his activities. Working together, they will uncover the conspiracy of Thaddeus Valentine and the Mayor of London, who are secretly planning to use the weapon that destroyed the Earth thousands of years ago...
