Alojz Majetić: Time in the dust

Time in the powder – Even after a whole series of poetry books, Majetić is different again. His poetics changed in search of new worlds and also developed in the process. One of the typologies of Croatian poetry - that of Cvjetka Milanje - classifies him in the group of in-betweeners, together with poets who generationally it was difficult to link either to those of the circle or to the members of the circle. In some sense, Majetić is a permanent intermediary precisely because of the variability of his poetics, so it is almost impossible to put him in just one typological box. As much as his knowledge is closer to looking into the future, he stands firmly in the base of tradition. Majetić's permanent libidinous relationship to the physical, but also to the spiritual abysses emerges in the new verses as well, looking for their complex connection. In the eternal questions of existence and essence, the author uses powerful poetic means to find "home and food" for everything that occupies him.
